 How Do I...

We are an NHS practice and provide the full range of general medical and nursing care for our registered patients. A full range of contraceptive services are available.
The nursing staff can give you travel advice and vaccinations including Yellow Fever.
They perform cervical smears for women aged 25-65 and can give sexual health advice to all our patients.

Lifestyle advice is also available with information on diet & exercise. As well as regular weight checks, they offer help to stop smoking and provide blood pressure monitoring.

Please make an appointment with the doctor when your baby is 6 weeks old for a routine health check. New mums should also make an appointment with the doctor around about this time for their own check-up. When babies reach 12 months health checks are held with both the GP and the health visitor, and it is the health visitor who handles all of your babies injections.

Immunisations are due at 3 months, 4 months, 12 months, 13 months and 3 years 4 months for all children. Details of these can be obtained from the doctor or nurse. We feel it is very important that all children are protected from infectious disease as far as possible for their own sake and that of other children around them.

Please bring your child’s red book in when you first attend the surgery after registering. We will then photocopy this to ensure we have everything up to date.

Nursing Care

Nursing clinics run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and also on Thursday evenings. These clinics are predominantly for long term conditions/chronic disease reviews, e.g. asthma reviews, diabetic checks, etc, and for vaccinations.

Long Term Conditions

Long Term conditions are monitored and treated.
The practice nurse reviews most long term conditions where the patient is stable, more complicated cases are referred to the GPs for assessment and appropriate action.

Screening

Our nurses can offer Cervical screening for females over 25s (Smear Test)
Chlamydia screening is offered on request

Maternity Services

We have first class midwifery services. The midwife will be able to offer help and support throughout your pregnancy to when your child is born and immediately afterwards.
There is a weekly clinic in the surgery on Thursday mornings - appointments can be booked through reception.

Child Health

Please make an appointment with the doctor when your baby is 8 weeks old for a routine health check. When booking, please let the receptionist know that it is for your baby’s 8 week check and she will arrange for your baby to see the nurse afterwards to have his/her first set of injections. New mums should also make an appointment with the doctor around about this time for their own check-up.
Further immunisations are due at 3 months, 4 months, 12 months, 13 months and 3 years 4 months for all children. Details of these can be obtained from the doctor or nurse. We feel it is very important that all children are protected from infectious disease as far as possible for their own sake and that of other children around them.
The health visitor is in regular contact with the surgery and is involved with all families with children under 5 to offer help and support.
If you are concerned with any aspect of your child’s health, please speak to either your GP or one of our nurses.
